New accountability

The article presents one of the ways in which the companies can strengthen communicate and (document) their social responsibility. By means of the many new ways of making accounts an increasing number of companies choose to use them as supplements to their strictly financial balance sheets and as tools for developing dialogues with both the companies primary and secondary stakeholders.

These accounts coversocial, ethical, knowledge, environmental and working environmental aspects.

With special focus on the social accounts the companies' aims with these new accounts are discussed as they are seen in relation to conceptions such as 'stakeholders', 'license to operate' and various management systems. It is exemplified by social accounts from the companies Shell and Linjebus.
