Diversity Management as social responsibility and good business
A sustainable balance?
During the last ten years the dominating literature on Diversity Management has described integration of weaker minorities as a competitive asset. In this paper, however, it is argued that Diversity Management as business argument cannot alone resolve problems related to ethnic minorities’ connection to the labor market. Further, there is a risk of the less fortunate groups not being accepted and granted access to business organizations. Through the description of a multinational Danish corporation, managerial mechanisms leading to the exclusion of ethnic minorities and removing the focus from ethical concerns are exemplified.
