New Pay Systems in the Public Sector
Recently new pay systems have been introduced to the Danish public sector. This development allows for a wider use of performance related pay. The article focuses on performance related pay based on subjective performance indicators. A number of factors, which could result in bias in the performance evaluations, are discussed. Further, the possibilities of limiting arbitrariness in the evaluations are considered. In particular, the possibilities linked to the fact that performance related pay should be agreed by the management and the employee representative are discussed. Finally, perspectives on further developments are outlined.
