Actors, arenas and roles in workplace development
Preben H. Lindøe
The article discusses the question of combining the tasks and roles of being a change agent in enterprise development with the tasks and roles of being evaluators of the same program. The theoretical perspective for the analysis is taken from the Nordic action research tradition. Acase study is made from a Norwegian program called Enterprise Development 2000 where researchers and consultants from the same institution have worked together. From the very beginning they introduced action research as the basis for the interventions and documentation. They developed new arenas for dialogue and exchange of experience among the actors in the enterprises. Within this framework their own tasks and roles where further developed. To some extent the researchers managed to handle some of the challenges of combining roles, which they initially faced, however others challenges seemed to remain unsolved.
